ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistani has started a campaign to create awareness among labourers about HIV/AIDS.
The Directorate of Workers Education (DWE) of the ministry will educate workers about modes of HIV transmission, vulnerable conditions, diagnoses, symptoms and signs, disease control and prevention, stigma and discrimination, said an official Saturday.

ISLAMABAD (APP) - The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has reactivated pension scheme for Pakistani citizens living abroad .
Talking to this agency, Managing Director, OPF, Seyed Hasnain Haider said there are more than 7 million Pakistanis all over the world and OPF is making an all out effort to facilitate them. He said these Pakistanis contribute a huge sum of money to the national exchequer every year but, ironically, a large majority of them does not have institutionalized social security or insurance cover in the country of employment or at home.
KARACHI - Remittances sent home by overseas Pakistanis continued to show a rising trend as an amount of $4,126.16 million was received in the first eight months (July 2007-February 2008) of the current fiscal year 2007-08, showing an increase of $709.63 million or 20.77 percent over the same period of the last fiscal year.
The amount of $4,126.16 million includes $2.01 million received through encashment and profit earned on Foreign Exchange Bearer Certificates (FEBCs) and Foreign Currency Bearer Certificates (FCBCs).

DUBAI — The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation has launched several new schemes for non-resident Pakistanis, including a revived pension scheme, an industrial zone, and Haj and Umrah quotas.
This was stated by Syed Nayyar Hasnain Haider, the newly-appointed managing director of OPF, at a meeting with the community at the Pakistan Sports and Recreation Club in Dubai on Sunday.
He led a delegation, that included A. Asad Khan, executive director, and Bashir Abid, general manager of OPF, on a visit to Saudi Arabia recently.
Dubai: Pakistani expatriates in Dubai lashed out at a delegation of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) for not fulfilling its promises regarding housing schemes, remittance benefits, educational projects and facilities at the airports.
